The idea of Everything Beach started with the Van Rood family in 2005. The previous owners, Frank & Sally Van Rood, began the innovation phase of Everything Beach when he was asked to take care of his own family’s home(s) during the winter months. Frank soon came up with a vision of not only taking care of his own relatives but also numerous other island families. And so the journey began…
In the spring of 2016, my husband and I were given the opportunity to obtain the company known as Everything Beach, LLC. In our previous life we were Texas teachers. Although both of us had owned many establishments through the years, acquiring a “Beach Business” was something of a learning curve. For starters, what is known as “Season” cover the months of May through September. During this time period, we stay exhaustingly busy from sun-up to sun-down. The big orange ball rises about 5:00 a.m. and does not drop until after 9:00 p.m. “Off Season” is defined as the months of October through April and completely the opposite. During these months, one is lucky if sunglasses are worn before 7:45 a.m. and a flashlight is in use by 4:45 p.m. As homegrown Texans, we are completely attending life awkwardly.
After two (2) overwhelming but awesome summers, we are learning to adjust to this new lifestyle. During the warmer months while the tourists are on our small island, we are fortunate if there are three (3) meals eaten at our dinner table a week. The months of September through March bring forth so much time in the kitchen that our friends do not have to buy their own groceries. As a husband and wife team, we have learned to listen, trust and motivate each other with a deeper respect in creativity and business. Like any profitable business, some days are better than others but each day is better than the last.
As we embark on the summer of 2018, the creativity is amazingly flowing with ease. The Staff at Everything Beach attended the Big Kahuna Trade Show in Myrtle Beach during December. After much deliberation, planning, and money spent; friendships were enhanced and business growth inspired. Some of these men and women have been with our establishment since the Van Rood family started the venture. Not only do they have the necessary skills to get the job done, each person has the willingness to accept growth. This Texas family has truly become part of a North Carolina family that indeed have each other’s back.
In closing, the Staff at Everything Beach would like to wish you a very prosperous 2018. If you are planning a vacation on Topsail Island in North Carolina please be sure and let us know if we can be of assistance. We are excited and ready to help your family with all that we have available. Although our office is closed until February, please do not hesitate to contact us through our Social Media.
